Common questions
How soon after birth can I get a postnatal massage?
After a vaginal birth without complications, most clients begin 2-3 weeks postpartum. After a C-section, we recommend waiting at least 6 weeks with OB clearance. There is no upper limit — many clients book their first postnatal session months or even a year after delivery.
Will postnatal massage affect my milk supply?
No, when performed correctly. We avoid deep pressure on the chest, and many breastfeeding clients appreciate the release of upper-body tension. Bring your pump if you need to feed or pump during the session.
Can I bring my baby?
Yes. Many moms do, especially in the early months. We have a quiet space and we're comfortable with baby being present during your session.
Does insurance cover postnatal massage?
Many extended health plans include this coverage; check your plan for details. We provide a receipt with your therapist's RMT registration number for direct submission to your insurer.
How much does postnatal massage cost in London, Ontario?
At Dolphin Dive, postnatal massage is CA$110 for 45 minutes, CA$120 for 60 minutes, and CA$160 for 90 minutes. All sessions are performed by Registered Massage Therapists and are insurance-eligible.
Will my therapist work on my C-section scar?
Only after you're fully healed and cleared by your OB, and only if you want them to. Many clients choose to include scar work, but we never do it without your explicit consent.
What if I'm experiencing postpartum depression or anxiety?
Please mention this at intake. Massage can be very supportive but it isn't a substitute for therapy or medical care. We may suggest a shorter session and recommend you connect with your healthcare provider as well.
What if I'm still pregnant?
See our prenatal massage instead. The work is different in important ways.
