Common questions

Is prenatal massage safe for my baby?

Yes, when performed by a trained Registered Massage Therapist using appropriate positioning and pressure. Our team is specifically trained in perinatal massage and adapts every session to your stage of pregnancy. For high-risk pregnancies, we recommend confirming with your OB or midwife first.

Can I get a prenatal massage in my first trimester?

Yes. Our Registered Massage Therapists adapt each session to your stage of pregnancy. For high-risk pregnancies or specific concerns, we recommend confirming with your OB or midwife before your first session.

Does insurance cover prenatal massage?

Many extended health plans include this coverage; check your plan for details. We provide a receipt with your therapist's RMT registration number for direct submission to your insurer.

How will I lie during the massage?

We use side-lying with full bolster support rather than face-down tables with belly cutouts. It stays comfortable as pregnancy progresses and still allows focused work.

How often should I book during pregnancy?

It depends on your symptoms and how you respond. Many clients book every 2-3 weeks, and sometimes weekly during periods of discomfort. We'll help you find the right cadence after your first session.

How much does prenatal massage cost in London, Ontario?

At Dolphin Dive, prenatal massage is CA$110 for 45 minutes, CA$120 for 60 minutes, and CA$160 for 90 minutes. All sessions are performed by Registered Massage Therapists and are insurance-eligible.

What should I wear?

Whatever's comfortable to remove and put back on. We'll drape you appropriately throughout the session and only uncover the area being worked on.

What if I'm already past delivery?

See our postnatal massage instead. The work is different in important ways.

Can I have a hot stone massage while pregnant?

No, and we will not book it. Heat applied that way is not recommended during pregnancy, so prenatal massage is the right choice for now. Hot stone massage is a good thing to come back for once you are postpartum.
