Common questions

What ages are the kids yoga classes for?

The earlier class is for Kindergarten through Grade 3, roughly ages 4 to 9. The later class is for Grade 4 through Grade 6, roughly ages 9 to 12. We group by grade rather than strictly by age so the pace and the attention span match. If your child sits near the boundary, email us and we'll help you pick.

Who teaches the classes?

Melanie Brown of Ladybug and Leaf Wellness. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher with 17 years of experience working with children, certified to teach children's yoga through Little Yogis Academy, and Yoga Alliance certified in Restorative Yoga. She teaches all three classes, so the same person is with your child every week.

How much is it in total?

The six week Intro Session is $120 plus HST, which comes to $135.60, so $22.60 a class. The ten week Winter Term is $190 plus HST, $214.70, which works out to $21.47 a class. Every class is the same price, whether it's a kids class or the women's restorative class. If you would rather try one first, a single class on Wednesday 21 October is $10 and we take that off your term fee if you register within 48 hours.

Is there a discount for siblings?

There can be. Email us before you register with the names and grades of both children and we'll sort it out for you.

Can we try a single class before registering?

Yes. On Wednesday 21 October every class is a single $10 class, and if you register for a term within 48 hours we take the $10 off. After that, registration is by the term, because each week builds on the one before and the group stays the same throughout.

Do I need to stay during my child's class?

Yes. A parent or caregiver stays in the building for the duration of the class. You're welcome to watch, or to wait in our lounge, and there's plenty going on elsewhere in ActivityPlex. If your child is in the 6:00 class, the women's restorative class starts at 7:15, so you can use the time for yourself.

Who is the women's restorative class for?

Any woman who wants an hour of slow, supported, quiet movement. You do not need to be flexible, fit or experienced. Poses are held for a long time with bolsters and blankets supporting you, so the work is in letting go rather than pushing.

My child has never done yoga. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Most children arrive with no experience. There's no scoring, no performing and nothing to keep up with. Classes are built around play, breathing games and poses children can do at their own pace.

What should we wear and bring?

Comfortable clothes you can move in, bare feet or grip socks, and a water bottle. We provide mats and all props. Please arrive about five minutes early so we can start on time.

What happens if we miss a week?

We can't refund or credit individual missed classes. Let us know in advance and, where the fit is appropriate, we'll do our best to fit your child into the other age group's class that week.

Can I cancel after registering?

If you cancel more than seven days before the session starts, you get a full refund. Within seven days we'll credit your spot to the next session. Once a session has begun, registration is non-refundable.

What if the class doesn't fill?

Each class needs five people to run. If we don't reach that, we'll contact you about a week before the start date and refund you in full, or move your spot to the next session, whichever you prefer.

Can I register two children in different age groups?

Yes. Register each child in the class that matches their grade. The two classes run back to back on the same Wednesday evening, so it's one trip. Email us if you'd like help with the timing, and ask about the sibling rate while you're at it.

Where exactly are you and is there parking?

We're at 112 to 1305 Commissioners Road East in London, inside the ActivityPlex building. There's free parking on site.

Save your spot for Wednesday.

Small groups of 10 to 12, so terms fill up.
