Common questions

What is a baby combo session?

A combo is one appointment that includes two things: a hands-on session with one of our practitioners, and a float in our warm-water tub, with about 20 minutes in the water. You book once and arrive once. Two members of our team care for your little one during the visit.

How long does a combo take?

Most combos run 60 minutes in total. The physiotherapy initial combo runs 75 minutes, because the first physiotherapy assessment is 45 minutes rather than 30. Each session page and your confirmation email states the full time, so please plan for the whole visit rather than just the treatment.

When should I feed my baby before a session?

About 30 to 45 minutes before your appointment. A hungry baby will not settle in the water, and a baby fed immediately beforehand may be uncomfortable during the float. If your timing slips, that is completely fine. Feeds and cuddle breaks are welcome at any point during the visit.

What should we bring?

A swim diaper, a swim costume if your baby wears one, and a spare outfit to go home in. Your baby's favourite towel is optional but often comforting, and a favourite toy helps during physiotherapy sessions. Dress your baby in easy-to-remove clothing, and wear something comfortable yourself, since you will be beside the tub. We provide the float equipment, a freshly filled tub, towels, and the massage oils.

Which comes first, the treatment or the float?

For osteopathy and physiotherapy, the hands-on session comes first, so your baby is alert for it, and the float sends them home settled. The massage combo is the exception and runs float first, because infant massage uses organic oils and we do not put oil into the tub.

Is a combo covered by insurance?

The treatment portion is. Massage is performed by Registered Massage Therapists, physiotherapy by a Registered Physiotherapist, and osteopathy by an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, all of which many extended health plans cover. The float is a wellness service and is not insurance-eligible. We receipt the two separately, so your claim only ever shows the treatment. Check your individual plan for details.

What if my baby cries or does not settle?

That is normal and we plan for it. Some babies take a minute to adjust to the water, and every session is paced to your baby's cues rather than to the clock. Feeds and cuddle breaks are always welcome, and if your little one has had enough we stop. Nothing is ever forced.

Can we book a combo for a first visit?

Yes for massage and osteopathy. Physiotherapy has its own initial combo that includes the full 45-minute first assessment. The follow-up combos are for returning clients who have already completed an initial assessment in that service.

What ages are combos for?

Combos are available for babies and toddlers from 1 month to 3 years. That upper limit comes from the float; massage, osteopathy, and physiotherapy on their own are available for older children too.

Should we still come if my baby is unwell?

Please reschedule if your little one has a fever, is generally unwell, or has an open skin condition or infection. Just let us know and we will find another time. The same goes for you, since you will be close to your baby and to our team throughout.

Can I stay with my baby?

Yes, and for the hands-on portion we ask that you do. A parent or legal guardian stays beside their child throughout osteopathy and physiotherapy sessions, and you are right there at the tubside during the float.

Give your baby a float they'll love.

About 20 minutes in warm, fresh water, with you right beside them.
